Flying into Liberia Airport (LIR) and out from SJO
This itinerary packs a lot into a 10 days-long vacation. This route takes you to 4 of the most celebrated tourist destinations in Costa Rica: splendorous Papagayo Gulf, magical Monteverde, and our fascinated volcanoes Rincón de la Vieja, Arenal, and Poas. You can explore and enjoy tropical nature, experience a few high-adrenaline adventures, indulge yourself in our warm waters, and take in some beach time too.
Day 1: Arrival in Liberia and stay overnight at fabulous gateway in Coco, Hermosa or your selected Beach at Papagayo Gulf, offering great tourism infrastructure in a set of horseshoe-bays with calm surf waters, ideal for visitors seeking quality rest and relaxation, and it offers a selection of moderately priced to luxurious lodging.
Day 2: Leisure day in one of the most stunning beach of North Pacific coast where you could catch a Catamaran to silently glide along Guanacaste Gold Coast while passing some of exotic bays, white sand beaches and tropical jungles. Stop in a tranquil bay; drop anchor and frolic in the blue Pacific. Snorkel in the bay or run down the deserted white sand beach. If you prefer the afternoon trip, the Catamaran will set sail and you will hear the waves slide along as the sunsets, illuminating the clouds left in the sky.
Day 3: Day trip in the Rincon de la Vieja National Park to witness its spectacular volcanic elements: steam and sulphur pour out of natural fumaroles, clay pools bubble with boiling hot volcanic water, and mini mud explosions at the cauldrons. Delight in beach time afterwards.
Day 4: From Papagayo Gulf to Monteverde Cloud Forest mountains, On the way we will stop in the acclaimed Llanos del Cortéz Waterfalls and a Wildlife Rescue Center that provides a temporary home for wild cats and other animals that have been injured, orphaned, or confiscated in the illegal pet trade. A night stroll in the cloud forest could be organized upon arrival (optional $25 per person).
Day 5: Day trip to visit Monteverde Cloud Forest Adventure Park. A shared shuttle offers transfers for this adrenaline combo: the highest Suspension Bridges over the forest canopy, an amazing Aerial Tram to reach the highest point of this mist forest to start descending in the safest and most thrilling Zip Lining in the country.
Day 6: From Monteverde to Arenal Volcano via Van-Boat-Van shared service across Arenal Volcano Lake, witnessing the dramatic changes from high-land cloud forest to low-land rain forest locations, and saving 5 hours of driving around the lake. Rising above the rainforest that surrounds its base, this perfect cone shaped and inactive volcano frames the skyline with impeccable symmetry.
Day 7: Day trip in Arenal Volcano. We offer the service of one full day of transportation from your accommodation to selected variety of attractions, such as the magical Fortuna waterfall nested into a canyon covered by rainforest, hike old lava trails in the slopes of Arenal Volcano, take a horseback ride through impressive landscapes, enjoy a rainforest chocolate tour, immerse yourself into Costa Rican farm culture in an organic cultivate land, visit a wildlife refuge or take a rainforest canopy bird view through amazing walk ways hanging from the trees. Our staff will be available from 8 am until 5 pm to drive you around but the entrance fees are not included in this offer.
Day 8: From Arenal Volcano to San Jose passing through the outstanding Zarcero Topiary, Grecia, a picturesque hamlet considered one of the cleanest in Latin America and home of a gorgeous metal church; and Sarchí, known as the Cradle of Costa Rican Artisans because the abundance of workshops that work in fine woods.
Day 9: Scenic drive via large coffee plantations to celebrated Poas Volcano, the largest active crater in the world, and to impressive La Paz Waterfall Gardens, where beyond magnificent cascades, tour includes rescued wildlife exhibits in a rainforest setting with monkeys, butterflies, hummingbirds, toucans, and many birds and animals.
Day 10: Depart from San José Airport.
